“Focusing Effort Where It Matters: Strategic Approaches to Teaching and Curriculum Change”
mit Dr. Cynthia Heiner (Programm-Managerin Hochschuldidaktik am Dahlem Center for Academic Teaching der Freie Universität Berlin)
Zum Inhalt
Resources in higher education are limited—and becoming tighter. This raises a practical question: where should we focus our time and effort if we want to change teaching and curricula?
Instead of adding more isolated projects, this talk considers how existing activities can be connected more deliberately. Drawing on experience and selected international examples, it reflects on how approaches developed elsewhere might be adapted to local contexts.
A simple mapping exercise invites participants to examine their own setting: Where are there already gains? Where do persistent barriers remain? And where might targeted effort make a difference? The focus is not on extending familiar “easy wins,” but on identifying gaps and overlooked areas that continue to limit progress.
Together, we will also take a realistic look at how difficult change is—and how even loosely connected approaches can create more traction over time.
